And the award for most nuts looking trailer of the year so far goes too…
The movie is a mix of live-action and animation from Waltz With Bashir director Ari Folman, featuring a great list of actors, including Robin Wright playing herself, along with Kodi Smit-McPhee, Danny Huston, Harvey Keitel and Paul Giamatti.
The film is a loose adaptation of Stanislaw Lems The Futurological Congress, a 1971 black humour science fiction detailing the exploits of the hero of a number of his books, Ijon Tichy, as he visits the Eighth World Futurological Congress at the Costa Rica Hilton. However as you can see from the trailer, the film is quite different, with Robin Wright having her career pronounced dead, so she sells her likeness to a company that will use her as a sample – and that’s when things get animated.
The film premieres at Cannes.
