James Mangold may be busy putting the finishing touches to The Wolverine, but he’s already planning his next movie, Three Little Words. Unperturbed by her recent legal troubles, Mangold has now signed up Reese Witherspoon star in the movie, which will reunite them following their success with Walk The Line, according to THR.
Adapted from Ashley Rhodes-Courter’s memoir, Three Little Words is about her childhood, which was spent in and out of foster care, starting at just four years of age. Reese Witherspoon is set to play a Florida volunteer who develops a relationship with the young girl, nine years after she first entered the system. The volunteer embarks on a search for the girl’s biological mother, in the hope that she’ll give up her parental rights so that the teen can start a new life.
Amanda Seyfried is in early talks to play the girl’s biological mother, but a deal hasn’t been reached at this time. Lewis Colick (The Fighter) and Michael Petroni (The Rite) are writing the screenplay. It’s not clear when it might shoot.
