It was inevitable that at some point Hollywood would try to move forward with a remake of the 1985 flick, and now Universal Pictures and producer Joel Silver are doing just that, according to Deadline.
Michael Bacall (Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World, Project X, 21 Jump Street) has been hired to write the screenplay for this new version, which is being reinvented as an R-rated comedy in the same vein as The Hangover (which is what’s said about pretty much every new comedy in Hollywood nowadays).
The 80s movie starred Anthony Michael Hall and Ilan Mitchell-Smith who scientifically engineer the perfect woman (Kelly LeBrock), only to realise that she is much more than just a sex object. Bill Paxton and a 20-year-old Robert Downey Jr. also starred for director John Hughes. The film was later spun off into a Weird Science TV series.
No director is currently attached.
