Dawn of the Planet of the Apes recently had a bit of a shake up when Rupert Wyatt drop out of the director’s chair, due to the fact he didn’t think there was enough time until the planned May 23rd, 2014 release of the movie, and was quickly replaced by Cloverfield’s Matt Reeves.
Now THR reports tha the film is getting a rewrite from Mark Bomback (Total Recall, Jack the Giant Slayer, Live Free Or Die Hard). The story will continue the evolution of the apes as they take over planet earth under the guidance of super-intelligent chimp Caesar (Andy Serkis).
Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa, the scribes behind Rise of the Planet of the Apes, wrote the initial draft for this follow-up, but Mark Bomback is being brought in to tailor the script more towards Matt Reeves’ sensibilities. Mark Bomback also did touch ups on the first installment.
