In the last few weeks, the likes of Gina Carano and Katee Sackhoff have signed up for what’s been described as a ‘female Expendables’ from producer Adi Shankar, however that movie has nothing to do officially with the action franchise. Now Deadline reports that Expendables backer Millenium Entertainment is putting their own female-led take on their movie, which is currently going by the rather hideous title, Expendabelles. Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith (Legally Blonde) have been hired to write the script.
Part of the difference between the movies is that while Adi Shankar’s movie is going for younger female action actors, Millennium is seeking female action legends to make up their cast, instead of younger stars. The studio is said to be compiling their list of action stars, but don’t plan on making any formal offers until the script is completed.
It isn’t known when production will begin, although look for the Adi Shankar movie to start shooting first, as that movie is much further along in the development process.
