Marc Forster had a difficult time in the last few years. He was blamed for many of the dramatic failures of Quantum Of Solace, which resulted in it taking a couple of years for him to get his next movie off the ground. However it looked like he was coming back with a vengeance with the Brad Pitt zombie movie World War Z, but that film has now been severely delayed amid reports of huge problems and the need for massive reshoots.
Despite this, he’s looking to the future and TheWrap reports that he’s nearing a deal with Disney to helm Imagining Nathan. It sounds like a decent fit for Forster, taking him back to the themes of Finding Neverland and Stranger Than Fiction. The movie is about a boy called Nathan who retreats into a fantasy world after he’s orphaned at the age of six. 30 years later, his sister tries to help him escape his demons, but Nathan has been diagnosed with a condition which causes him to live in a cartoon-like world.
It’s tough to know quite how that would work, and whether it means a literal cartoon world of just somewhere that outlandish, fantastical things happen. Hopefully we’ll find out more about it soon, as it does sound like it could be interesting.
