Philip Seymour Hoffman’s first outing as director, Jack Goes Boating, was rather underwhelming, but he’s had great success directing for the stage and the movie did at least suggest it would be worth looking out for anything he helmed in the future.
Now it appears he’s chosen a follow-up, as Variety reports he’s now attached to direct the black listed script Ezekiel Moss, which will take Hoffman into the world of the supernatural. The slightly Whistle Down The Wind premise is set during the Great Depression Era follows a curious and imaginative young boy who starts an unlikely friendship with a drifter in his small town who claims that he has the power to talk with the dead.
Cathy Schulman of the pictures’ backers, Mandalay Pictures, commented, “Hoffman is one of the great talents of our generation. We are thrilled to be in his capable hands directing this captivating and gothic exploration of faith and the supernatural.”
There’s no news on exactly when it might shoot.
