Director Tom McGrath is well known for his Dreamworks Animation efforts such as MegaMind and the three Madagascar movie, but now he’s in talks to make his live-action directorial debut with a movie version of Rentaghost.
Ben Stiller is set to star in this comedy, based on the 1976 BBC series Rentaghost. The story follows Fred Mumford (Ben Stiller), a recently-deceased man who never lived up to his full potential on Earth. Determined to be more productive, he decides to form an agency in the afterlife dubbed Rentaghost, where ghosts are leased out to help the living.
Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant (Reno 911!, Night at the Museum) wrote the screenplay, although it isn’t known exactly when it might shoot. (Source: Variety)
