Ridley Scott Takes On Moses – He says it’s going to happen

5th June 2012 By Tim Isaac

There’s is no one alive who like developing movies as much as Ridley Scott. He currently has over 30 films in various stages, a few of which he’ll make, some of which will go to other directors while many will never see the light of day. Now we’ve got one more to add to the list, as while out promoting Prometheus, he’s told Esquire Magazine that he’s working on a film based on the life of Moses.

He says, “I’ve got something else in the works. I’m already doing it. It’s called ‘Moses.’ Seriously, seriously. It’s going to happen. I probably shouldn’t have let that slip out. I’m not supposed to say anything. It’s definitely in the cards, though. What’s interesting to me about Moses isn’t the big stuff that everybody knows. It’s things like his relationship with Ramses [II, the pharaoh]. I honestly wasn’t paying attention in school when I was told the story of Moses. Some of the details of his life are extraordinary.”

It’s not the only Moses film in the works, as there’s also Gods and Kings, which Steven Spielberg is putting together, and another at Fox (although it’s possible this is the one Scott is now involved with). While Scott says it’s going to happen, that doesn’t mean he’ll end up directing, as he could just produce. It won’t happen soon either, as he’s going to be busy shooting The Counselor in the next few months, and it’s likely Fox will be agitating for a Prometheus 2.
