Jared Hess’ career so far hasn’t really lived up to the promise of Napoleon Dynamite, with the director’s last movie, Gentleman Broncos, completely flopping. However he’s now returning and it seems he wants to go a bit more mainstream as Variety reports that producer Scott Rudin and Disney have signed Hess to direct the sci-fi family comedy, The Pet.
The film is based on an original concept from Matt Lieberman, which follows a man who gets abducted by aliens, is taken to their planet and then turned into a family pet. The script was recently rewritten by Timothy Dowling.
It’s certainly a potentially fun premise, and hopefullly Hess can do it proud.
