Chris Tucker isn’t exactly the most proilic of film stars, and while many would say that’s a good thing, it looks like he wants to come off hiatus ang get into movies again. Since 1998 he’s only made Rush Hour movies, but seeing as he was paid over $45 million for those, it’s not like he’s been hurting for cash.
However, now Variety reports that he is in talks for roles in both The Silver Linings Playbook and Neighborhood Watch. David O’Russell’s Silver Linings Playbook already has Bradley Cooper onboard as a former high school teacher who is committed to an institution for depression. When he gets out, he tries to win back his ex-wife, and ends up falling for his neighbour instead. Jennifer Lawrence is attached to portray the new beau, while Robert De Niro will play the main character’s father. Chris Tucker is in talks to play Danny, who lives in the mental hospital where Bradley Cooper was institutionalised.
As for Neighborhood Watch, Chris Tucker is eyeing the role of Jamarcus, a recently-divorced man who joins the suburban Neighborhood Watch group along with Ben Stiller,Vince Vaughn, and Jonah Hill. While the group is supposed to just be an excuse for guys together together and have some fun, they uncover a plan for world dominationg.
It doesn’t appear he’s signed on the dotted line for either movie, but Silver Lining Playbook currently looks more of a certainty than Neighbourhood Watch. Quite frankly, we’d be quite happy if he just made his retirement permanent, but perhaps he can with us back over with these new roles.
