Once Upon A Time knowing Anthony Hopkins was going to be in a film was a sign of quality, but in recent years it’s more become a sign of the actor getting an easy paycheque while he puts precious little effort in. Sadly it doesn’t look like that run will change with his latest signing, although he could prove us wrong.
Variety reports that Hopkins has joined the cast of New Line’s crime thriller Solace. In the film the actor will play John Clancy, a former doctor who possesses psychic abilities, which he uses to help the FBI track down a serial killer. So it’s essentially the TV series Medium, but with Hopkins instead of Patricia Arquette.
Peter Morgan (The Queen) wrote the latest draft of the screenplay for Solace, so at least that’s a vague sign this may be okay, but it doesn’t have a director attached yet. Shooting should begin sometime next year.
