Last week it was revealed that Anna Kendrick had signed up to sign in the new college rom com Pitch Perfect, and now Variety reports that she’ll be starring alongside Adam Devine in the movie. Although not particularly well known, the young actor’s career got a bit of a boost with the Comedy Central series Workaholics, which has led to his new film role.
Pitch Perfect is a romantic comedy set in the world of college a cappella groups. It revolves around a goth-like and rebellious student (Kendrick), who is unhappy to be at a school at which her father is a professor. However she discovers her voice and becomes the secret weapon for the school’s female a cappella group. So basically it’s Glee set in a college. Devine is set to play the leader of the competitive singing group.
The film will be directed by Jason Moore and is based on a book written by GQ magazine’s Mickey Rapkin. It’s due to shoot this autumn in New Orleans.
