The Coen Brothers next movie has been slightly wrapped in mystery. We’ve know for a while it was going to be about folk music, and there were some rumours it would be partially based on the memoir of singer Dave van Ronk, but that was about it.
However now Variety has a few more details, which have been revealed now that StudioCanal has come aboard to co-finance the movie. The title of the film will be Inside Llewyn Davis, and it is about a folk singer as he navigates the folk scene in 1960s New York City.
Joel Coen and Ethan Coen will direct Inside Llewyn Davis from their own original screenplay, which will use naturalistic dialogue and feature live music, with the idea being to try and draw the viewer into the 60s folk world. It all sounds a little Robert Altman actually, and the Coens are one of the few directors who might be able to pull that singular style off.
