All the major roles in Baz Luhrmann’s planned remake of The Great Gatsby have been filled, and so it’s time to find actors for a few of the smaller yet still important part. Luhrmann is doing just that, as the director has now brought Callan McAuliffe and Gemma Ward on to the project.
Variety reports that McAuliffe, who got a break earlier this year playing Alex Pettyfer’s sidekick Sam in I Am Number Four, will play a young Jay Gatsby. EW has the Gemma Ward news, but it’s not certain what part the On Stranger Tides actress will be playing.
The adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s Long Island-set novel, sees Midwesterner Nick Carraway (Tobey Maguire) lured into the lavish world of his neighbour, Jay Gatsby (Leonardo Dicaprio). Soon Carraway will see through the cracks of Gatsby’s nouveau riche existence, as well as his long obsession with the beautiful but married Daisy (Carey Mulligan). Joel Edgerton, Isla Fisher and Jason Clarke will also star, with shooting kicking off later this year.
