Sometimes it almost seems pointless writing up what movies Paul Greengrass is supposed to be directing, as he jumps in and out of film with almost ridiculous speed. However it currently looks like he really will be filming the Somali pirates movie, A Captain’s Duty (after several hundred films which is was going to helm but then dropped out of) and according to Deadline he’ll now be following that up with an adaptation of Robert Harris’ upcoming financial thriller Fear Index.
The book is about a scientist who uses a revolutionary system of computer algorithms to trade on the volatility of the worlds financial markets. His hedge fund is wildly successful until he is targeted by an intruder who breaks into his home.
It isn’t certain when Greengrass might get around to Fear Index, although it certainly won’t be until he’s completed A Captain Duty with Tom Hanks.
Incidentally the same Deadline story says Robert Zemeckis has dropped out of directing the time travel movie Replay so he can concentrate on Flight with Denzel Washington. A new helmer is now being sought for Replay.
