There’s a new Britcom in the works and its cast is growing, with THR reporting that Lucy Punch, Rufus Hound, and Robert Webb have joined the cast of The Wedding Video for director Nigel Cole (Calendar Girls, Made in Dagenham).
The movie is about a best man who decides to videotape his friend’s wedding as his gift to the newlyweds, which turns out to be more chaotic than he expected. The whole thing will be done in mockumentary style, so think Spinal Tap if it had been about Engish society weddings. It isn’t known what roles Punch, Hound, or Webb will play, but they join a cast which already includes Miriam Margolyes, Michelle Gomez, and Harriet Walter.
Nigel Cole is directing The Wedding Video from a screenplay he co-wrote with Tim Firth. James Gay-Rees will produce, while Nigel Green and Ralph Kamp are on board as executive producers.
The film has just started filming and will shoot for seven weeks.
