The cast of Guillermo Del Toro’s Pacific Rim has grown once more, with Variety reporting that Clifton Collins Jr. has joined the Legendary Pictures production. He’ll star alongside Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Charlie Day, Willem Dafoe, and Robert Kazinsky in the big budget flick.
The film is an attempt to turn the Japanese Kaiju genre into a blockbuster movie, with monsters threatening the Earth and the only way to battle them being massive robots piloted by humans. The alien invasion story is written by Travis Beacham but not much more is known about it, including who Collins Jr. might be playing.
Collins Jr is currently shooting Parker, opposite Jason Statham, and will move onto Pacific Rim after that.
