The opening movie of the London Film Festival has been announced, and it’s Fernando Meirelles 360 that’s going to launch the event with a big gala screening on Wednesday October 12th. Perhaps unusually, it’s not actually a world premiere, as the film will be screened first at the Toronto Film Festical, but it will be the first time the movie been seen in Europe.
Directed by Fernando Meirelles (City of God, The Constant Gardener, Blindness) and with an original screenplay from the acclaimed writer Peter Morgan (The Queen, Frost/ Nixon), 360 is kaleidoscope of interconnected love and relationships linking characters from different cities and countries. Starting in Vienna, the film weaves through Paris, London, Bratislava, Rio, Denver and Phoenix. From a simple decision made by one man to remain faithful to his wife springs a series of consequences. From uplifting, beautiful and romantic moments through to desperate, confused and conflicted interludes, each protagonist in 360 has their own vivid, entertaining, funny, tragic narrative as their stories entwine across the globe.
The movie stars Anthony Hopkins, Rachel Weisz and Jude Law, ensuring a star studden lineup for the screening. Expect more new on the London Film Festival on September 7th, when the ful programme is announced.
