Following his Fast & Furious movies, Universal has rather fallen in love to Justin Lin, to the point where they’re happy to sign a two-year deal with him and his his Barnstorm Pictures outfit to back a slew of movie the filmmaker wants to make.
THR reports that Justin Lin will focus on movie tent pole projects guided toward a distinctive global mainstream audience. Several projects currently under development include Fast & Furious 6, an action-adventure/spy drama called Leading Man, an movie currently known as ‘Untitled 442 Project’ about a WWII era Japanese American battalion that became the most decorated unit in American history, as well as an untitled sci-fi/crime thriller movie that will be directed by Robert Glickert.
“Justin’s vision and unique approach to film making have been critical to the continued success of the Fast and Furious franchise,” said Jeff Kirschenbaum, co-president of Production for Universal. “We know his creative instincts and signature style will make Barnstorm’s partnership with Universal a strong one.”
Lin’s also involved in numerous other projects, including a fifth Terminator movie, however it doesn’t look like they come under this deal (although Universal has been seen a a likely home for T5).
