After years in development, numerous different casts attached and multiple rewrites, Neighborhood Watch is finally coming together to shoot this Autumn. Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn are already attached, Rosemarie Dewitt is in talks and now actor Jonah Hill is in negotiations to join the cast of the movie, according to Vulture.
The movie is about a group of suburban fathers who form a neighborhood watch group for the sole reason to get in some male bonding time away from their families. The plot intensifies when they come across a nefarious plot for world domination. It isn’t clear what role Jonah Hill would play, although it seems unlikely that the 27-year-old actor will play one of the neighbourhood dads. Stiller and Vaughn have already signed on to play two of the fathers, with DeWitt in talks to portray Stiller’s wife.
However there is a slight sticking point to Hill’s hiring. He wants considerably more that his usual paycheque to make the movie, due to the fact both The Sitter and Moneyball have been testing very well in the run up to their release. However with Fox having budgeted $70 million for Neighborhood Watch and much of that being eaten up by Stiller and Vaughn, it may be difficult to put a deal together that would satisfy Hill’s desire for a pay raise.
Akiva Schaffer is directing Neighborhood Watch from a screenplay that was recently rewritten by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.
