Magic Mike is turning into a bit of a lineup of the best abs in the business – but then a movie about male strippers is gonna need some buff actors. Matthew McConaughey has signed up for the film, according to Variety, joining Channing Tatum and Alex Pettyfer in the movie.
The story is loosely based on Channing Tatum’s days as a teenage male stripper (yep, the GI Joe star used to get his clothes off for cash!). Tatum will also play the title character, with Alex Pettyfer as a younger stripper who Magic Mike mentors both on and off the stage. Matthew McConaughey is set to portray Dallas, a former stripper who now owns the Xquisite club where Magic Mike works.
Steven Soderbergh is directing the movie from a script by Reid Carolin. it isn’t certainly when the movie will start shooting, but it won’t be for a while, as Tatum has only just started shooting GI Joe 2, and will busy on that for the next few months.
