The US TV show The Killing has resulted in a huge amount of Hollywood interest in – and an Emmy nomination for – actress Mireille Enos (who may have an exotic sounding name, but is US born to an American father and French mother). She recently scored the role of Brad Pitt’s wife in World War Z, and now she’s taking on some more wifely duties as Josh Brolin’s spouse in Gangster Squad, according to Variety.
Mireille Enos will play Connie O’Mara, the pregnant wife of Brolin’s cop character. Not only does Connie keep her husband in line, but she also helps him pick the candidates for the titular squad. She joins a superb looking ensemble that already includes Sean Penn, Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling, Michael Peña, Emma Stone, Robert Patrick and Anthony Mackie.
The true-life tale will see Penn playing hardman gangster Mickey Cohen, a former boxer who became an associate of the likes Meyer Lansky and Bugsy Siegel. He was a man about Los Angeles, and also a suspected sociopath who caused a great deal of harm to those he came in contact with. Gosling and Brolin will be two cops trying to bring this notorious gangster down in the late 1940s.
The movie starts shooting next month, with Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) directing.
