In the next few months he’ll be playing Superman’s biological father in Man Of Steel, and now it seems Russell Crowe’s found himself a role to fill the tim once that’s complete. Deadline reports that Crowe has signed onto star in Broken City for director Allen Hughes, playing the mayor of New York City.
Last November, Mark Wahlberg signed onto star as ‘an ex-cop-turned-private detective who is hired by the mayor (Crowe) to see if his wife is cheating on him. The private eye confirms those suspicions, and when the mayors wifes cheating partner ends up dead, the private eye immerses himself in the mayors business and uncovers a real estate scandal that involves the pol dealing himself choice city-owned properties.’
Brian Tucker’s script for the movie made the Black List of the best unproduced screenplays in 2008 and has been compared to Chinatown. We’ll have to wait and see if that comparison is justified, but it starts shooting in November on a $60 million budget.
