The final pieces are coming together for the Jason Statham flick Parker, with Variety reporting that Nick Nolte, Patti Lupone and Emma Booth have all signed up to star, just as the movie started filming in New Orleans late last week.
The film is based on Donald E. Westlake’s novel The Hunter, one of a series of book about a thief (and which was already loosely the basis for both the classic Point Blank and Mel Gibson’s Payback). It centres on a disciplined thief who lives by a strict code of conduct. He never steals money from people who actually need it, although he will strike back with a vengeance if he is crossed.
Statham has the title role, but it isn’t known quite where Nolte, Lupone and Booth fit in. They’ll be joining Jennifer Lopez, Michael Chiklis, and Clifton Collins Jr. in the movie. Taylor Hackford (Ray, The Devil’s Advocate) is directing. It’ll be in cinemas autumn 2012.
