If the news that Nick Frost will be in Ice Age: Continental Drift makes you think we’re heading for another Pegg & Frost reunion, you’re out of luck. While Simon Pegg voiced a character in the last Ice Age movie, it doesn’t look like he’ll be back as Buck for the new one.
However Frost is amongst a long list of new voices who are joining the franchise for this latest prehistoric adventure. Alongside Frost, Variety reports that Joy Behar, Nicki Minaj, Heather Morris, Josh Gad, Alan Tudyk, Kunal Nayyar and Alain Chabat have all signed up to play new characters in the movie, according to Variety.
There aren’t many plot details, but apparently the increasingly annoying Scrat’s pursuit of an acorn has world-changing consequences that help Sid (John Leguizamo) reunite with his long lost family. The rest of the gang, meanwhile, tries to make their way home despite roadblocks from a determined menagerie of colorful characters.
Series regulars will be back, including Ray Romano, Queen Latifah, Denis Leary, Swan William Scott, Wanda Sykes, Aziz Ansari and Josh Peck, with the movie hitting cinemas July 2012.
