After having a bit of a rocky road to the screen with director and cast changes (Danny Boyle was once attached and commented that it was ‘almost too dark to get made’), The Texas Killing Fields (aka The Fields) is now on its way and the first trailer has arrived. Unfortunately it’s dubbed, which is a bit of a problem for those of us that don’t speak Italian, but we can still get a feel for the look of the movie. Michael Mann’s daughter, Ani Canaan Mann, was the person who eventually stepped behind the camera to direct the film, which is based on a series of real life killings. The thriller follows a local homicide detective (Sam Worthington) in a small Texas town and his partner, a transplanted cop from New York City (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), as they track a sadistic serial killer dumping his victims mutilated bodies in a nearby marsh locals call The Killing Fields. The killer changes the game and begins hunting the detectives, teasing them with possible clues at the crime scenes while always remaining one step ahead. When a familiar local girl, Anne (Chloe Grace Moretz), goes missing, the detectives find themselves in a race against time to find the killer and save her life. Take a look below for the trailer.
