With Cry Wolf, it appeared that Jeff Wadlow was going to be a director to watch, but since then we’ve only had the rather so-so fighting flick Never Back Down from him. However now Dark Castle has picked up an airplane thriller spec Non-Stop, from newbie writers John Richardson and Chris Roach, and has set Wadlow to direct.
The plot details are being kept under wraps but THR has dicovered that the project is a contained, gritty action thriller centering on an air marshall flying on a domestic flight. While the Dark Castle name means who you might expect there to be a supernatural horror element to this, the company (headed up by Joel Silver and Sam Raimi) is has decided to move into more straight thriller territory as well. It had success with Unknown, which made $130 million worldwide on a $30 million budget, and so is trying to replicate that with other projects that don’t go down the creep-fest route.
Wadlow has been involved with Non-Stop right from the beginning, as it was him who discovered the writing duo and developed the script with them.
