With today’s hardened audiences, it’s tough to make a movie that truly freaks people out, but writer/director Greg McLean managed it in 2005 with Wolf Creek, about stranded backpackers in the Australian outback, who fall prey to a psychopathic bushman.
For the past few years there’s been talk of a sequel, which was kept alive late last year when McLean suggested he’d worked out how he thought the story should move forward. However we’re now six years on from the original and there’s still no flick, so many had given up hope. Now though, Screen Australia has announced the movies that will be getting funding in its latest round of grants, and thankfully for fans of horror, that includes Wolf Creek 2.
Variety reports that John Jarratt will return as the murderous psycho, Mick Taylor, although as yet there are no more details on the plot than that.
With money now available, the movie will go into pre-production in December, with the film expected either late 2012 or early 2013.
