It seems this year’s Comic-Con will be more noted for early reveals of concept imagery for films that are yet to be shot than the usual array of early footage (although scenes from Amazing Spider-man impressed audiences). At the end San Diego event, some pretty cool concept imagery for Paradise Lost and Darkest Hour was revealed, as well as an exclusive poster for Immortals.
The pic above is an official concept pic from Legendary Pictures of Lucifer from Alex Proyas’ adaptation of John Milton’s classic Paradise Lost. Bradley Cooper is set to star in the movie about Lucifer and Michael, God’s greatest archangels, who share the bond of extraordinary friendship until God produces his greatest creation: Man. Unable to remain subservient to God if it means bowing down to humanity, Lucifer begins his dark descent and is cast out – only to plot his revenge. It should reach cinemas in 2013, although filming is yet to begin.
Legendary also revealed more concept art from the film, along with the fantasy project Seventh Son during their panel, so if you fancy more info on that, along with hastily snapped images of the art, head over to /Film for a good report.
And take a look below for Darkest Hour and Immortals.
Last week the first image from the movie Darkest Hour was revealed, and now there’s a whole slew of concept pics that have arrived, which you can see above. The movie is about five young people (including Emile Hirsch, Max Minghella, Olivia Thirlby and Rachael Taylor) who find themselves stranded in Moscow, fighting to survive in the wake of a devastating alien attack. And as you can see from the pics, it’s the attack of electical aliens, with ball lightning playing a large part in the plot. At Comic-Con, people also got to see a trailer for the movie, so hopefully that’ll arrive online soon. Timur Bekmambetow is producing the movie with Chris Gorak directing. It’ll be in cinemas early next year.
This poster for Tarsem’s Immortals also arrived at Comic-con, showing off all the Greek mythlogy madness of the upcoming movie. Here’s the synopsis: ‘Eons after the Gods won their mythic struggle against the Titans, a new evil threatens the land. Mad with power, King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) has declared war against humanity. Amassing a bloodthirsty army of soldiers disfigured by his own hand, Hyperion has scorched Greece in search of the legendary Epirus Bow, a weapon of unimaginable power forged in the heavens by Ares.
‘Secretly chosen by Zeus, Theseus must save his people from Hyperion and his hordes. Rallying a band of fellow outsidersincluding visionary priestess Phaedra (Freida Pinto) and cunning slave Stavros (Stephen Dorff) one hero will lead the uprising, or watch his homeland fall into ruin and his Gods vanish into legend.’ It’ll be in cinemas on November 11th.
