Neill Blomkamp hasn’t revealed many details of his follow-up to District 9, Elysium, but it’s time to start rectifying that with the low-key launch of a viral campaign at Comic-Con. A poster for something called Armadyne was discovered on the convention floor (thanks to /Film for the image), which points people to a website – armadyne.net.
The site includes a video (which you can see below), where Armdayne is looking for zero g welders, mega-structure engineers, quantum networkers and experts in zero g coupling and multi-generational planning, so they accomplish the most amibitous project ever undertaken by mankind. However they don’t expect it to be finished until 2097!
This presumably has something to do with the human colonisation of other planets that’s rumoured to be part of the movie. Elysium stars Matt Damon, Jodie Foster, Sharlto Copley, Wagner Moura, William Fichtner, Alice Braga and Diego Luna, set a century in the future. Blomkamp has suggested it’s very violent and that like District 9 it mixes socipolitical ideas with a sci-fi thriller. It’s also believed Damon will play an ex-con while Foster will be the head of state of an alien planet.
