Shortly after the movie started shooting, the first pic from the new Judge Dredd movie – simply titled Dredd – showed up online, but that was months ago and it’s only now that we get another. This one, which gives us a closer look at Karl Urban wearing the iconic helmet, has arrived coutesy of Bleeding Cool, and unlike in the much maligned Stallone version, we’ve been promised that in this flick, he will keep his helmet on at all times.
Dredd takes us to the wild streets of Mega City One, the lone oasis of quasi-civilisation on Cursed Earth. Judge Dredd (Urban) is the most feared of elite Street Judges, with the power to enforce the law, sentence offenders and execute them on the spot if necessary. It’s a tough world, and one that’s hopefully going to be better than when Stallone was in charge.
Lena Headey, Olivia Thirlby and Domhnall Gleeson also star, with Pete Travis (Vantage Point) directing and Alex Garland on scripting duties (and it’s the last of these that should give us the most hope). The movie should be in UK cinemas of December 1st.
