I think it’s fair to say that the last week has proved there’s going to be a lot of dwarves in The Hobbit. We’ve had images of Ori, Nori and Dori, then Oin and Gloin and yesterday there was Fili and Kili. If that weren’t enough, now IGN has revealed the first pic of Bombur, Bofur and Bifur, played by Stephen Hunter, James Nesbitt and William Kircher.
It’s been dwarf overload, especially with casting coming through for Snow White And The Huntsman, which has ensured that every British actor who isn’t playing a dwarf in The Hobbit will do so in that film.
Here’s the character description that came with the image above: ‘While most of the Company of Thorin Oakensheild is related to the royal and noble line of Durin, Bofur, his brother Bombur and their cousin Bifur most definitely are not. Born and bred in the West, descendants of coal miners and iron workers, they have joined the Quest for the Lonely Mountain partly to seek their fortune and partly because they were told the beer was free.’
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey hits cinemas December 2012, with the second movie, There And Back Again, coming a year later.
