The Hobbit has spent the last few days revealing its dwarves, with a trio of brothers coming first, then Oin and Gloin, and now two more. And if you were concerned that the dwarves we’ve seen so far weren’t sexy enough (which I know is a major concern for most people), then fear no more as Fili and Kili are here (via MSN) to make you swoon – and they’ve even got big swords to make everyone even more impressed!
Dean OGorman is playing Fili, while Aidan Turner is Kili, and here’s the character description that was posted alongside the pic: ‘Two of the youngest Dwarves, Fili and Kili have been born into the royal line of Durin and raised under the stern guardianship of their uncle, Thorin Oakensheild. Neither has ever travelled far, nor ever seen the fabled Dwarf City of Erebor. For both, the journey to the Lonely Mountain represents adventure and excitement. Skilled fighters, both brothers set off on their adventure armed with the invincible courage of youth, neither being able to imagine the fate which lies before them.’
So will these two get young girls excited in the way Legolas did of LotR? We’ll have to what and see when the first of the two Hobbit Flicks, An Unexpected Journey, arrives December 2012.
A couple of other cool new images/posters have arrived for other films, and you can see those below.
This poster for the film 50/50 arrived over at /Film. The image seems slightly dull at first, until you realise Joseph Gordon-Levitt is shaving his head. This isn’t due to a bet with the director over whether he’d do that for a poster, it’s because in the film his character has cancer, with the movie being a humourous look at his battle with the disease, inspired by Ali G producer Will Reiser’s own fight with testicular cancer. Reports from early screening have been incredibly strong. The film is currently scheduled to hit the UK January 2012.
It’s less than a month until we get to see whether Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes is great fun or supremely dumb (it’s difficult to work out which from the trailer), but the poster above is pretty cool. It shows Caesar, the main ape in the movie, who is part of an experiment that makes our simian cousins super-smart. Caesar is then raised by James Franco’s scientist, but when he’s eventually locked up in a lab, he and his now more intelligent brethren break free and it’s war between humans and apes! So it would appears Caesar is both the good guy and bad guy at the same time, which is sort of suggested in this poster.
