Back in May, at the time revelations about Arnold Schwarzenegger’s love child emerged, he decided to put his movie comeback on the back burner while he dealt with his personal life. However now that Maria Shriver has officially filed for divorce and it appears there’s no chance of a reconciliation, he’s decided to get his acting career going again.
One of the movies he put off was The Last Stand, but Deadline reports that film is now back on, with Arnie once more planning to star. The film a Western which will serve as the English-language debut of Korean filmmaker Jee-woon Kim (The Good the Bad the Weird, I Saw the Devil). It’s about a small-town sheriff (Schwarzenegger) who becomes the last line of defense when a Mexican drug cartel escapes from a courtroom and tries to get back south of the border.
Production is now scheduled to start in September on a $30 million budget. Last Stand was just one of several projects Arnold Schwarzenegger left behind during his acting hiatus, including Cry Macho and Terminator 5. Cry Macho is believed to be delayed until at least February 2012, if not indefinitely, but at least Arnie’s getting his career moving again.
