Most recently seen in Disney’s Prom, there are potentially big things ahead for Nicholas Braun, after a role in Kevin Smith’s Red State led to him being given the lead in the director’s next movie, Hit Somebody. Now he’s got another starring role, as Variety reports he’s signed up for Lionsgate’s Gay Dude.
The plot of the film starts in basic teen territory, with two high school pals agreeing to lose their virginity before they graduate. The twist this time around is that one of the friends announces that he’s gay. Quite how that’s enough of a premise for an entire movie in this day and age isn’t quite clear, but knowing this sort of flick, I’m sure we can expect plenty of borderline homophobia masquerading as a plea for tolerance, along with all the hilarity of straight people not knowing how to act around a gay person.
Hopefully though it’ll have a bit more finesse than that, with the script coming from Alan Yang, who’s one of the writers on the sitcom Park And Recreation.
