Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are putting on their producing hats for Jamaica, a new comedy which will see the collaborate once more with director Jonathan Levine and writer Will Reiser. Wackness helmer Levine and Reiser recently worked with Rogen & Goldberg on the cancer dramedy 50/50, which the duo produced, and which Seth stars in.
According to Variety, Reiser will once again draw from his real life experiences as he did with 50/50 (which was inspired by his battle with cancer), as the script will be loosely based on a vacation he took to Jamaica with his grandmother when he was 14. Reiser says, “This is a story that I’ve long wanted to tell. It’s something of a passion project for me, and I couldn’t be more excited to have found it a home at Mandate.”
Reiser, who made his name as a producer on Da Ali G Show, will now write the screenplay, with Levine attached to direct. Rogen is currently just attached as a producer, and it isn’t known if he might potentially star as well.
50/50 is already get excellent notices at early screenings, and many expect it to become a significant hit, despite the potentially off-putting subject matter. So by the time Jamaica comes to shoot, Reiser and Levine could be much bigger names in Hollywood circles.
