After The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning didn’t do so well in 2006, it looked like that would be it for the franchise for a while. Then 3D arrived and so every studio in Hollywood started looking at what franchises they could milk for a few extra dollars on the promise of added ticket sales for the extra dimension – unsurprisingly this has resulted in the resurrection of Leatherface and pals.
However the psychopathic family need people to try and kill and so Alexandra Daddario (Percy Jackson) is in final discussions to portray the female lead in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D. While Variety has the news, there’s no specific details about her character – not that we need any, as it’ll almost certainly involve some pointless backstory followed by a lot of running and screaming.
It was previously indicated that The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D takes place in present day. However, today’s report suggest the plot happen just after the events of the 1974 original movie The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, which was directed by Tobe Hooper. John Luessenhop is directing The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D with production scheduled to start later this month in Shreveport, Louisiana.
