After getting stuck in development for ages, Neighborhood Watch – which started out life as a Will Ferrell flick, before he left and threw everything into chaos – is now moving fast towards the screen. A couple weeks ago we reported that Ben Stiller was in talks to star in the film, and now the LA Times says Vince Vaughn is in talks to join him.
Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg wrote the screenplay (or at least completely overhauled a previous version), which is about a Neighborhood Watch group in a sleepy community. However the dull sounding home security group is really just a front for the middle-aged fathers to spend some time away from their families. However things take un unexpected turn when they uncover an alien plot to destroy the world. Little is known about the specific of Vaughn’s character, although presumably he’ll be part of the Neighborhood Watch group.
Akiva Schaffer (Hot Rod) is directing, although it isn’t known when production will start.
