Being about the only Scandinavian actress anyone could name (except maybe Watchmen’s Malin Akerman), certainly helps Noomi Rapace if any Swedish characters are needed. She’s now attached to play Swedish singer Anita Lindblom in a biopic about her and boser Bosse Hogberg, which Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight, Red Riding Hood) has signed on to direct.
Screendaily says Noomi Rapace’s husband, Ola Rapace, will play Hogberg, whose marriage to Anita Lindblom made European headlines back in the 1960s. Noomi and Ola Rapace have been developing this untitled biopic for several years, and Ola is apparently so dedicated that he’s been in boxing training for the past four years.
Peter Birro wrote the screenplay, and shooting is scheduled to begin sometime this autums in Sweden, with a release planned for sometime this year. However, whether English-language audiences will warm to film about a singer and boxer most of them have never heard of, despite the presence of Noomi and Catherine Harkwicke, is difficult to tell.
