Most of the cast of the first GI Joe film might have been dumped, but director Jon M Chu is busy finding (presumably cheaper) replacements. Channing Tatum should be back as Duke, Dwayne Johnson has been confirmed as Roadblock, and Variety now reports that two more are in talks, with RZA and D.J. Cotrona eyeing the movie.
RZA is in discussions to play the Blind Master, a martial arts expert who trained both Snake Eyes (Ray Park) and Jinx (Elodie Yung). Although Ray Park has not officially signed on yet, it is believed that he will reprise his Snake Eyes role from G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (the only other returnee is believed to by Byung-hun Lee’s Storm Shadow). D.J. Cotrona is in talks to play Flint.
GI Joe: Cobra Strikes will be based on a screenplay by the Zombieland writing team of Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. It’s not certainly when the movie will shoot, but it’ll have to be soon if it’s going to hit its planned August 10th, 2012 release.
