Ed Helms has a new movie project in the works, as Deadline reports that he’s attached to the Pitch True North, which Warner Bros. has just bought from writer Rob Pearlstein, and which will now be fashioned into a starring vehicle for The Hangover and Office star.
True North is the story of Brian North (Ed Helms), an obsessive travel show host who goes missing in India and is presumed dead. When he returns to New York two years later, after being in a coma and having undergone reconstructive surgery due to a plane crash that leaves him unrecognisable, North tries to reunite with his wife and two kids, who felt alienated by the workaholic before his disappearance and aren’t quite ready to be accept that he is still alive. They’d rather he stayed gone, as they have clearly moved on.
There is no production start date set, but some are suggesting Helms will most likely shoot True North during his Christmas hiatus on the next season of The Office. However it’d have to be a pretty quick shoot, so we’ll have to wait and see.
