With shooting expected to begin next month, casting is certainly gearing up on Man Of Steel. The latest to join the ranks is Christopher Meloni, who has a bit of time on his hands, seeing as it looks unlikely that he’ll be returning to Law & Order: SVU (even though he was one of the highest paid actors in TV).
Deadline was first with the news, although they didn’t know what the part was, except that it was a ‘major role’. That very quickly led to speculation Meloni would be either Lex Luthor or Perry White, but Vulture spoke to the actor who said it wasn’t either of those, and while he didn’t have much detail to add, he did say he’d be playing a general.
Meloni start work in August alongside Henry Cavill as Superman, Michael Shannon as Zod, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Kevin Costner and Diane Lane as Clark Kent’s earthly parents, and Russell Crowe and Julia Ormord as his Kryptonian mom and dad. The film will reach cinemas December 2012.
