While he’s starred in the likes of Dorian Gray and Killing Bono, Ben Barnes has had difficulty stepping out of the shadow of the two Narnia movies he’s been in. However that may change, as Variety reports that he’s now in negotiations to star in The Seventh Son alongside Jeff Bridges.
Back in April we reported that Sam Claflin and Alicia Vikander would both star in the movie. However On Stranger Tides star Claflin is now out and Barnes is taking his place. It isn’t known why Claflin left, although the fact he’s now starring in Snow White And The Hunstman, which starts shooting soon, may have something to do with it.
Barnes will play Tom, the seventh son of a seventh son, who becomes the apprentice to master wizardy Spook (Jeff Bridges). Their characters must team up to do battle with an evil witch (Julianne Moore) in the 1700s. Alicia Vikander is still on board as a young witch who Tom falls for. In the book, Tom is a teen, which seems to be changing, as 29-year-old, can’t pass for anything but a 20-something.
Sergey Bodrov is directing The Seventh Son from a script by Charles Leavitt., based on Joseph Delaney’s book series. It isn’t known when production will start on The Seventh Son.
