The Dictator may have been shooting for a few weeks now, but they’re still adding cast members, with Megan Fox and John C. Reilly signing on for cameo roles in the movie, according to THR.
It isn’t known exactly what either of the actors will be doing in the movie, and it is possible that both actors could be playing themselves. After all, Pamela Anderson made a surprise cameo appearance as herself in Sacha Baron Cohen’s breakthrough comedy Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan back in 2006.
In the movie, Baron Cohen plays a ruthless dictator who heads to the US for a meeting at the United Nations and finds that his number two has replaced him with an unsuspecting sheepherder lookalike (also played by Cohen). As the dictator wanders the city, he meets the owner of an organic food store. She turns around his dictatorial thinking, and theres a little romance in it as well.
Bizarrely, it’s partly based on a book by Saddam Hussein (no, really, it is), called Zabibah And The King, with a little of Chaplin’s The Great Dictator thrown in. Jason Bateman, Anna Faris and Ben Kingsley co-star, with Larry Charles (Borat, Bruno) behind the camera. It’s due in cinemas May 2012.
