It’s rarely a good thing when Jennifer Lopez decides she ought to star in a movie, not so much because she lacks talent, but because she seem to make the most godawful choices of which films to be in. She’s now eyeing two more flicks, according to Variety, both of which should now be put on the list of being potentially dodgy, just because she’s interested in them (only kidding, sort of).
She’s in talks to play the female lead in Parker, starring opposite Jason Statham, as well as taking on a supporting role in What to Expect When You’re Expecting.
Directed by Taylor Hackford, action film Parker is an adaptation of the Donald E. Westlake mystery novel series. In Parker, Jason Statham will play the title character, a thief who follows a strict moral code, but who’s a hard guy who’s willing to kill if crossed. Jennifer Lopez would play the female lead, a character named Leslie, who gets involved with Parker as he executes a heist. Shooting on that movie begins in August.
What to Expect When You’re Expecting will be helmed by Kirk Jones and is based on the bestselling how-to guide for preparing for childbirth. Cameron Diaz and Matthew Morrison are signed up to star. Few specific plot details have been released, although it is known it will follow five couple through the joys and problems of pregnancy. Jennifer Lopez is in discussions for the supporting role of Holly. Last we heard, shooting on this one began in July, with Variety noting that although she hasn’t committed to making another series of American Idol, both these films will be made during that show’s hiatus.
Lopez could certainly do with a bit of acting success, as it’s been five years since a movie she’s been in has made much money (partly because she took time off acting to have kids), and has never had would could be described as a genuine, breakout hit.
