Although there’s been talk of a sequel to Salt ever since the first film was released last year, many assumed it wouldn’t happen just because while the movie did okay, it wasn’t a massive success considering it cost $110 million to make. However, Sony Pictures is moving forward with a Salt follow-up, with Deadline reporting that Angelina Jolie wants to star assuming all the pieces come together.
The studio has hired Kurt Wimmer, who wrote the original Salt, to come up the sequel screenplay. Jolie would reprise her role as Evelyn Salt, the CIA agent who spent the first movie running for her life after being outed as a possible Russian spy. While Phillip Noyce directed Salt, he revealed back in December that he would not direct a Salt sequel – that could of course change though.
