Joey King seems to be doing pretty well for herself. The 14-year-old Ramona And Beezus star landed a part in The Dark Knight rises last week and now it’s been announced she’ll be playing China Girl in Sam Raimi and Disney’s Oz: The Great And Powerful.
Her character name doesn’t refer to her ethnicity, but the fact China Girl is completely made of porcelain. According to Variety, the character’s entire family are destroyed by the evil witch Evanora (Rachel Weisz). James Franco’s character, who’s newly arrived in Oz after his balloon gets caught up in a storm, reulctantly becomes her surrogate father.
Michelle Williams is lined up to play Glinda the good witch, while Mila Kunis is Theodorah, who starts off good, but is turned to the dark side when Franco spurns her advances, eventually becoming the Wicked Witch Of The West.
The film will start shooting this July, with Disney having just set a March 2013 release date for the movie.
