I’ve always suspected Vin Diesel was a bit of a ponce, and more evidence has emerged in the form of a Facebook update on his personal page. It suggests the long-gestating new Chronicles Of Riddick movie may shoot this summer, and also that Diesel really needs to get over himself.
Here’s the update: ‘Grrrrr… D T [David Twohy] the writer/director just landed in New York with the good news. We can start filming this summer. However, there is a catch…in order for us to make a true R-rated film, I must work for scale upfront. Not unlike the Find Me Guilty experience (which I wouldn’t have changed for the world). Money is always second to art, integrity and spirit…but the real issue is deeper. Can I suspend my life, to momentarily venture to that dark place…called Riddick. Now, I need to hear from Our collective…you. Wisdom and clarity appreciated.’
He later followed that up with, ‘I have read so many interesting and intelligent responses to today’s post [there were thousands of responses with an hour or two]. You all have such great insight… I truly love Our page. Thank you again for taking the time to weigh in. P.s. I am off to another meeting with David, the director of Riddick… to see concept art and discuss the potential schedule.’
Now Vin, I wouldn’t mind seeing another Riddick movie, but it’s a frigging sci-fi action pic, not Schindler’s List, so quite what dark place you’re planning to go to (other than wearing Riddick’s goggles, of course) is a bit of a mystery. We know Riddick’s always been close to your heart and you may think you’re emoting great art with the films, but you’re not, so make the movie, have fun and see if you can pry yourself out of your own ass.
Oh, and if anyone reading this is worried about poor Vin being paid scale, that means he’ll likely only get paid two thousands dollars a week, the poor love, but could possibly make millions off the back-end once the film is in cinemas (and makes a profit). I know, how can anyone be expected to survive on $2k a week!
However if you do want to tell Vin to make the film, head over to his Facebook page.
