When it was revealed the other day that Arnie has a 10-year-old lovechild that he’d only recently admitted to his wife and family was his (and not only that, but the staff member who’d had the child, had kept working for him until last January), it suddenly became clearer why he and his wife of 25 years, Maria Shriver, had recently separated. However at the time it didn’t seem it would put his movie comback plans on hold. The producers of Cry Macho, which he’s slated to star in, quickly said they were standing by him, and other didn’t seem to think it would affect audience’s perception of him.
However now Arnie himself has called a halt, with his office releasing a statement to MSNBC saying, ‘Governor Schwarzenegger is focusing on personal matters and is not willing to commit to any production schedules or timelines. This includes Cry Macho. The Terminator franchise and other projects under consideration. We will resume discussions when Governor Schwarzenegger decides.’
There’s no timeframe or anything like that, so this could just be a brief pause – perhaps so Arnie can show his family he’s taking things seriously – or it may be something a little more long-term. However, Cry Macho was supposed to shoot this summer, and it would seem that’s now not going to happen, at least with Arnie on-board. His other projects are further away, so this latest statement is less likely to affect them.
So basically Arnie is putting himself in the doghouse at the moment, and we won’t be seeing his comeback until he decides to come out.
